VISIT TO ASHRALAYAM, AN INSTITUTE FOR DESTITUTE WOMEN, VIKAS NAGAR, DELHI
“From Loneliness to togetherness” People are often driven to catastrophic decisions due to loneliness and the inability to find help. And probably this was the case for the inmates of Ashralayam, an institute for destitute women in Vikas Nagar, Delhi. 65 inmates of this institution came with lot of unhappiness and pain of being left alone in this world. Services for people club of Mount Saint Mary’s school planned a visit to this place, so that not only young students get to peep into their world but also understand that human touch and interaction is the only way to provide a hope and smile to them. 41 student volunteers of classes 9 to 12, went along with Mrs. Reena Saxena, the in charge on Nov 2, 2018. Students with the help of a cultural show consisting of songs, dances and games made them cheer up. Their pain seemed to be leaving them when they suddenly got up to dance and sing with the children. A small packet of eatables for them was a kind of token of love and affection from the school. Students were really thankful to our Principal, vice Principal, coordinators and teacher for guiding and giving them a chance for this opportunity. One can say that ” If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet, how important you can be to the people you may never dream of. There’s always something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
