In today’s society , we tend to ignore a big part of the population – the senior citizens or infirm and cancer patients. The members of services for people club presented a power point presentation to the school on the over whelming experience during their visit to Davo Old age home . A donation drive with the support of our Principal, created a team spirit . Ms. Reena Saxena and the volunteers of Services for people Club collected donations of medicines , cash and food items like Rice , Pulses, sugar , Cups , tea leaves and toiletries. Students, parents and teachers together came forward for the same.
Without their families the seniors tend to be lonely and depressed. It is indeed depressing to see them living away from their families. They perpetually wait to interact or have a visit by the young children. Though they looked happy by the visit , but their pain could be felt when they shared how their children left them in the old age homes. On the other hand it was very touching to hear Sister Tabitha at Shanti Avedna Ashram share that the staff works nonstop day and night to give a peaceful death to the terminally ill cancer patients. It becomes a life experience for the students when they saw that many of the seniors had blank faces when the music played as years of lonely existence have left them hollow and unmoved by the simple entertainment through music and dance. And the moment the same people started clapping and dancing along with the students , it became a matter of triumph for the young children. The life cannot be changed for the seniors but definitely the moments can be changed.

It was an insightful experience with unforgetful memories and valuable essence that can be held on to through -out the students’ life.
It is definitely meaningful to add that this Diwali the students were successful to bring true happiness to these seniors .
