Labour Day Celebration at Mount St. Mary’s School
Honouring the Pillars Behind Our Everyday Excellence
On 1st May 2025, Mount St. Mary’s School, celebrated Labour Day with great
reverence and enthusiasm, acknowledging the tireless efforts and unwavering
dedication of the school’s support staff. These individuals — often working quietly
behind the scenes — are the backbone of the institution, and the celebration served as
a heartfelt tribute to their invaluable contribution.
The programme commenced with a Prayer for the Support Staff by Divit Marwah, the
Cultural Captain, setting a tone of gratitude and respect. This was followed by an
insightful reflection on the significance of Labour Day in India, reminding everyone of
the dignity and honour of all forms of work.
A melodious group song in Hindi, performed by the students, captured the spirit of unity
and appreciation. The highlight of the cultural segment was a compelling Nukkad Natak
titled “Hamare Pyare Bhaiya aur Didi”. This thought-provoking street play shed light
on the everyday lives and challenges faced by support staff, and was met with heartfelt
applause.
Students from both the junior and senior school then came together to recite a touching
Hindi poem, expressing their sincere thanks and admiration for the silent service
rendered each day. This was followed by the segment, “Marians Extend Gratitude”,
where students conveyed their appreciation through moving words and gestures.
Adding a special touch, Ms. Akanksha Rathi offered messages of gratitude,
emphasizing how the school’s growth and success are deeply intertwined with the
dedication of its support staff.
A particularly proud moment was the felicitation of Mr. Jagat, who was honoured for
completing 25 years of exemplary service at the school. His milestone was celebrated
with warmth and admiration. The Sports Captain, Kanusha Bopanna, speaking on
behalf of the student body, extended a heartfelt note of thanks to all support staff
members, recognizing them as essential to the school community.
Representatives from the office staff, Ms Palak Arora also shared her personal
experiences, speaking fondly of their journey and the sense of belonging they feel at
Mount St. Mary’s School. The Principal, Rev. Bro. Tomy Varghese, then presented a
memento as a token of appreciation, symbolizing the school’s enduring gratitude. In an
emotional response, Mr. Jagat expressed his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire
support staff.
The celebration reached a joyful climax as students personally presented handmade
cards and gifts to each member of the support staff, a gesture filled with love and
sincerity. In his address, the Principal spoke eloquently about the values of respect,
gratitude, and dignity of labour — encouraging students to carry these virtues into their
futures.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the support staff, Ms. Shashi, followed
by the soulful rendition of the School Song, a fitting finale to a day rooted in respect,
gratitude, and unity.
This Labour Day celebration was more than an event — it was a heartfelt reminder that
every role, no matter how big or small, is vital to the collective success of a community.
