Diamond Jubilee

2023 is a red letter year for Mount St. Mary’s School, Delhi Cantt., as the school is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee. We began the new session with an Inaugural event on 29th April, 2023 which took the audience down the memory lane on the journey of MSM since its inception in 1963.

The Chief Guest, Mr Himanshu Gupta, an IAS of the batch of 2012, unveiled the Diamond Jubilee Mascot and the Diamond Jubilee Logo was unveiled by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Harun Pratap, OSD and Registrar to the Honourable Lokyukta, NCT. The Principal, Rev. Bro. Tomy Varghese launched school’s first news channel, The Marian Times. Among other Guests of Honour present were Mr. Abhishek Rathore, Mr. Prashant Anand, Rev. Bro. Leslie Goudian and Rev. Bro. Edison. A musical depicted the adventurous journey of the Patrician Brothers as they travelled across the world spreading the educational mission of St Patrick and Bishop Daniel Delany.

Mount St. Mary’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration Roars to Success with ‘The Lion King’

In a spectacular gathering attended by 4,000 people, Mount St. Mary’s celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with grandeur. Following a successful carnival, the school, under the leadership of Principal Rev. Brother Tomy Varghese, presented a mesmerising rendition of Disney’s “The Lion King” on November 9, 2023. This captivating performance transported the audience to the African savannah, marking the pinnacle of the jubilee festivities.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, Mr. Kaliash Gahlot, who oversees administrative portfolios in Transport, Revenue, Law & Justice, Information and Technology and Administrative Reforms, and Women and Child Development. Notable attendees also included Lt. Gen.
Bhavnish Kumar (VSM, GOC HQ Delhi area.), Mr. C. Senthil Rajan, (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting), Mr. Veerendra Kadian, (M.L.A., Delhi Cantt.), Mr. Harun Pratap(Metropolitan Magistrate), Mountain Man, Mr. Pradeep Bhardwaj,( CEO ;Six Sigma), Ms. Diksha Dagar( Indian Golfer) and Mr. Abhishek Rathour( DEO, Delhi Circle).

The program commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the chief guest, the principal, head boy, head girl, and distinguished dignitaries. The occasion included a special felicitation of the 1970, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1980 batches of students, former teachers, and various esteemed guests. Brother Jerome Daryl Ellens, Province Leader (India &Ghana) adorned the honourees with shawls, planters, and mementos, adding a touch of prestige to the event. The ceremony continued with the exciting launch of the Coffee Table Book, the Diamond Jubilee brochure, and the debut of the Diamond Jubilee Anthem, all met with great enthusiasm. To top it all, a documentary film depicting the rich 60 -year history of Mount St. Mary’s was unveiled, providing a captivating glimpse into the school’s journey.

Honourable, Mr. Kailash Gahlot, made an enduring impression, expressing gratitude for the support in elevating the school to its current stature. The Principal of Mount St. Mary’s, Rev. Brother Tomy Varghese, played a pivotal role in elevating the educational environment and thanked everyone involved. He acknowledged Indian soldiers for their dedication to both national defence and nurturing children’s spirit. The use of artificial fireworks maintained an eco- friendly atmosphere during this celebration.

Under the expert direction of Mr. Sushant, students breathed life into beloved characters like Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, and others, leaving the audience awestruck by seamless transitions and meticulous attention to detail. Mrs. Jayashree Deb, Ms. Sheetal Dawra, and Mr. Minlun were also honoured for their contributions to the Diamond Jubilee anthem. Live choir performances of iconic songs such as “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” elicited enthusiastic applause. The coverage of the event was broadcasted on Doordarshan, and a YouTube link was provided to those who couldn’t attend The musical proved a resounding success, showcasing exceptional talent, exquisite set design, and heartwarming storytelling. “The Lion King” conveyed profound themes of responsibility, leadership, and the circle of life, imparting valuable life lessons.

The entire cast and crew earned well-deserved praise for their unwavering dedication, making this a truly memorable event. The Diamond Jubilee celebration exemplified Mount St. Mary’s rich history, unwavering commitment to excellence, and its vibrant spirit, serving as an enduring inspiration for the future.

Mount St Mary’s School, Delhi Cantt, organised a Grand Carnival, on 28th October, 2023, as part of the 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
The Diamond Jubilee Theme Park, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, GOC, Delhi Cantt, Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth, AVSM. Among the Guests of Honour, were Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Education Secretary, Delhi, renowned television personality Mr. Shaleen Malhotra, Mr. Tapas Majumdar from Radio Mirchi
The usual rides, games, food stalls, and raffle prizes were accompanied by exciting events like Ramp Walk, Jam Session, and live performances by renowned musicians. Our in-house rockstars, The Madan Brothers, Advay, Ariv and Krishna Madan, were supported by their father, professional singer, Mr. Hitesh Rikki Madan. Ex- Marian, Mr. Atul Ahuja, also a singer entertained the audience with his soulful numbers. The cherry on the cake was a performance by renowned country singer, Mr. Bobby Cash.

The carnival was an occasion for visitors to have fun, and a day for Ex- Marians, both teachers and students to meet up, enjoy and revive old memories.
To ensure the safety of the visitors, fire and security arrangements were oragnised by Mr. Pradeep Bhardwaj.

The carnival witnessed an enthusiastic turnout as parents, children, teachers and the alumni enjoyed a day filled with fun, food and memories.
