Activities
1. COVID-19 Awareness –
The academic year arrived with COVID-19. The first step was to spread awareness amongst the children about the use of masks and other safety precautions that were to be followed. The same was demonstrated during the online classes.
2. Book Reading Day –
It was a week-long celebration to encourage our children to enhance their reading capabilities and increase their vocabulary. The children enthusiastically participated by reading a wide variety of books.
3. Mom and Me in the Kitchen –
We were surprised to see the culinary expertise of our students as they came out with some yummy sandwiches. As a stress buster during the days of COVID-19 the children were given a fun activity to prepare sandwiches with their mother.
4. Light a candle –
Showing their support to the frontline warriors during the pandemic our children lit candles, staying indoors.
5. Partner State –

6. Seed Germination –
Our children’s curious minds have no bounds. To support them we encouraged our children to grow their own plant. The children were thrilled to see their little seed stand up erect, smiling at them…they had
nurtured and brought a new life into the world.
7. Fit India –
It is rightly said “A healthy mind rests in a healthy body”. Keeping in mind the very pressing need of being fit especially during these days of COVID-19, our children wholeheartedly participated in the various Fit India activities assigned by CBSE. On 25th November we screened online the virtual symposium to flag off the ‘Fit India’ school week. Later during the week we held a poster making competition.
8. Swachhta Divas –
Come October and along with Gandhi Jayanthi we celebrate Swachhta Divas on 2nd October. To celebrate the third anniversary, the children took the ‘Swachhta Pledge’ during their online classes.
9. Pollution – We at MSM believe in making our children conscious citizens of our country. Creating awareness about the rising pollution levels in Delhi was of utmost importance, ‘Red Light On , Gaadi Off’ was conveyed to the children through the online classes.
10. National Education Day –
To honor ‘The Father of Indian Education’, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, November 11th is celebrated as National Education Day by CBSE. The children of Class 5, participated in poem recitation in Hindi and English.
11. Children’s Day and Diwali –
The staff and the students joyfully celebrated Children’s Day with a special assembly by the staff for the children, praying for their well-being. This year, the day called for double celebration as Diwali also was on 14th November. Here again our alert and aware children spread the message of a Green Diwali through collages and posters.
12. Water Pledge –
In our attempt to spread the message of water conservation , we did our small part by pledging to save water ourselves and spread the message around.

Hum Fit To India Fit
Students of Class 3 participated wholeheartedly in ‘Hum Fit To India Fit’ activity which was conducted on 24th November, 2020. They showed how to follow a balanced diet by displaying healthy items on their plates. They also performed some workout exercises, yoga and breathing exercises to do every morning/ evening. Students pledged to eat healthy, think positive, work hard, exercise and adapt a lifestyle which makes their body and mind fit. They all were thrilled to make workout a part of their lives.
Introduction to Sikkim
It is important to know about the neighbouring states and their culture. The students of Class Three participated in the CBSE activity for the Sikkim state. They were excited to learnt about the regional languages, food, clothes and tourist places of Sikkim through videos and various activities. The students danced on their cultural song (Malai Sikkim Man Parcha) and dressed up beautifully for a fashion show as well. Knowing about Sikkim was interesting and helped them learn more about the country’s unity in diversity.
Unity Day Pledge
Class Three actively participated in the CBSE’s Unity Pledge Activity which was conducted on 29th October, 2020. The students dedicatedly pledged together with the spirit of unity, understanding the importance and the value of unity in diversity. Videos were shown to them to make them aware of the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his vision of a unified nation. The students felt proud to be citizens of such a beautiful and diversified country.
READING ACTIVITY: The reading activity for class 2 was help on 2nd July. Children were asked to hold their favourite book and read it with proper diction and fluency. They loved reading out and expressing in a wonderful manner.
FIRELESS COOKING: The Master Chef Activity was held on 6th May. Children used the available ingredients at home to lay out a dish in most creative, colourful and fun way. Train out of monacco cookies, fruit tarts and choco cookies were some dishes they made. It was an overwhelming experience done with so much love.
DRESSING UP -FANCY DRESS: Dressing up activity was based ongiving respect to our warriors (Our Helpers) who work hard day and night to safeguard us namely doctors, nurses, medical personnel, policemen and military personnel’sduring the pandemic time. The children dressed up as doctor, nurse, policeman and chef and spoke two – three lines as to how they help us. It was truly an enriching experience to see them dressed up as responsible people.
FREEDOM FIGHTERS: This activity was done on 14th August. Children were dressed up freedom fighters, patriotic leaders who fought bravely for the freedom of India. They spoke with confidence and patriotic valour as a freedom fighter. It sparked the feeling of patriotism and pride amongst all of us.
CLOCK ACTIVITY: It was held in the month of August. It was an effective teaching aid to make children understand and read time accurately on the clock.
GO GREEN: DIWALI ACTIVITY- This activity was done by children in class on 4th November. They dressed up in their traditional attire and made placards and cards which emphasized on celebrating Cracker free, Green Diwali to save our environment from pollution and spread peace and happiness.
FESTIVALS ACTIVITY: It was conducted on 20th October. Children dressed up in their traditional attire and spoke about their favourite festival and the memories attached to it. It was a beautiful moment to walk down the path of sweet memories of how they celebrated with their family, traditions and the rich culture.
PLANT COLLAGE: ACTIVITY – ‘ TO BE ONE WITH NATURE’ Our Friends- Plant Activity was done on 20th November. Children send the pictures of different kinds of plants and trees and it was compiled into a collage. Then one by one students were asked to identify the kind of plant, the fruit it gives, its benefits and usefulness. Children learnt a lot about plants through this fun filled activity.
FRACTION ACTIVITY : This colourful and creative activity was conducted on 9th December. Children were asked to keep origami sheets, A4 sheets and fevisticks. Through folding and pasting they understood the terms 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 as fractions and enjoyed learning more about this concept.
ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY: – Activity on 19thNovember Children were asked to use cut out masks or soft toys of animals( characters) in the Role play for the lesson ‘Sky Is Falling’. The story was beautifully enacted by children in the voices of the animals. It was truly a heartening experience.
SIKKIM- TRADITIONAL WEAR:FANCY DRESS AND DANCE was held on 17th November. Children were dressed up as people of Sikkim. They learnt a beautiful song Malai Sikkim MaanParcha and also danced on it. They were looking bright, colourful and very beautiful in the traditional attire of Sikkim.
The first edition of, The Penlightenment, an Online National Literary Competition was conducted by Rehana’s dreams in the month of June 2020. This was a multi –event literary competition which aimed at not only testing skills and prowess of students but also provided them an opportunity to explore their latent literary expressions. The theme of the competition was ‘Temper Us in Fire, And We Grow Stronger, When We Suffer, We survive.’The students of Mount St. Mary’s School participated fervently in various categories and they brought laurels to their alma mater by receiving many accolades.
- Avreen Kaur bagged the first prize for penning down a heart-touching memoir and other Honourable Mentions received by our students were:
- Saanvi Sharma for Poetry Writing.
- VaralikaVerma for Story Writing.
In order to boost the competitive spirit amongst students,Craft Competition was organized for Classes Two to Five on 3rd and 4thOctober ,2019 respectively.The students showed great zeal and enthusiasm to make attractive and eye-catching decorations out of paper plate,shuttle cock, hangar and socks.
IIT Bombay organized a workshop on ‘assembling of Solar Study Lamps’ for children aged 11 years and above, on 02nd October,2019 at Indira Gandhi indoor stadium from 9am to 6 pm.
Around 10,000 students participated from over 200 schools of Delhi & NCR region.
MSM participated in this global mega-event with 125 students from classes 6 to 12.
The students got a hands-on experience of assembling a Solar Study Lamp.
Hon’ble education Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar, graced the occasion and appreciated the work of the children towards energy saving & achieving self-sufficiency.
CLASS: PREP & ONE
English & Hindi Choral Recitation Competition for Classes Prep & One was conducted in School Auditorium on 29th August’19. Children recited the poems with full enthusiasm and utmost confidence. The judges for the competition were Ms. Sharmila Roy and our Volunteer Parents Mrs. Gagandeep Arora and Mrs.Meetu Jain. It was well organized and appreciated by everyone.

The Student Council of MSM had the unique privilege of interacting with Rev. Brother Jerome, ex-Principal of Mount St. Mary’s School and ex-Superior General of the Patrician Brothers onAugust 20,2019.Brother shared his multifaceted experiences with the young leaders. He spoke on leadership and the qualities that are essential to be a good leader. It was a motivating experience which made each student present to bedetermined, diligent, focused and responsible. He motivated the students by giving the examples of some great personalities likeJessie Owens, Jawaharlal Nehru and other great leaders. He congratulated the council for being badge holders of 2019-20 and wished them good luck for their future endeavors. Finally, he exhorted the students to keep doing good work and never let MSM down.
