SESQUICENTENARY ATHLETIC MEET & CLUB DAY FIESTA
A bright sunny day flowed seamlessly into a vibrant evening, creating an unforgettable celebration of sports,
creativity, performance and joy at MSM on 7th February 2026. The day began with the Annual Athletic Meet
– 2026, graced by our Chief Guests Shri Ashish Sood, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Home, Education, Power, Urban
Development, and Training & Technical Education and Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS, the Secretary to the
Government of India for both the Department of School Education & Literacy and the Department of Higher
Education under the Ministry of Education, an alumnus of the Patrician Institution. Rev. Brother J. C. Carroll,
a distinguished Patrician Irish Brother, was the Guest of Honour. The Principal Rev. Bro. Tomy Varghese, and
the Community Leader, Rev. Bro. George P. U. formally welcomed them with a planter and a stole.
During the Opening Ceremony the Olympic Flag was hoisted by Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS, the School Flag by Rev.
Bro. Tomy Varghese, and the Theme Flag by Rev. Bro. J.C. Carroll. The Torch Relay was initiated by the Head
Boy, Yashank Mahalwal and Head Girl, Gianna Reny, followed by the athletes from all categories and age
groups. The sacred flame was lit by the Sports Captain, Kanusha Bopanna. She also administered the Athletes’
Oath. The Sesquicentenary Sports Day was declared open by the chief guest. The release of a pair of doves
and the school banner with balloons marked the grandeur of the occasion. Spectacular drills by Classes 6–7
(Yoga & AMP; Musical Exercise), Classes 8–9 (Multi-Sport Drills) and Class 11 (Olympics Origin Theme Drill),
along with fiercely contested races, and inter House March Past filled the field with energy. It was followed
by the felicitation ceremony of Iron Boy 2026, Yashank Mahalwal, the Iron Girl, Gurbani Tur. Agastya Kadian,
Faustina Gloria Ekka, Rayyan Ali Khan, Shivani Kashyap, Deekshith Binamoni, Gurbani Tur, Daniel Sebastian
Tom, Suvarna Sharma, Yashank Mahalwal and Kanusha Bopanna were declared the best athletes in various
categories.
The four Houses competed for the coveted trophies. The Best March Past trophy was won by Price House
whereas Hogan House won the Runners up trophy. The Best Disciplined House trophy was won by Parkinson
House whereas Price House was declared runners up in the same category. Parkinson House was declared
the Overall Champions of the year 2026.
As evening descended, the stage came alive with the Club Day Fiesta featuring performances by the Western
& Indian Music Choirs, Western Band, Nrityangana Club, QuizQuad and Masquerade Club. A power-packed
performance by Suryaveer Hooja, Celebrity Singer & Ex-Marian, set the campus abuzz with energy. Showcases
by the Calligraphy, Astronomy, Coding and Gaming Clubs added to the magic.
The celebrations concluded with the Carnival where fun game stalls, exciting rides and delicious food counters
spread the colours of joy and excitement. 7th February was a fun filled day to commemorate the 150 years
of Patrician Brothers presence in India. At twilight, MSM stood not only as a learning place but a community
which came alive with collaboration, creativity, expression and Marian spirit.
