A Memorable Afternoon with Russian Delegates
On the bright and pleasant afternoon of 5th December 2025, Mount St. Mary’s School witnessed a remarkable occasion as the Marians of Classes 9 and 11 were blessed with a rare and enriching opportunity to interact with a distinguished delegation from Russia. The school had the honour of hosting five esteemed representatives from the Russian Education Agency, marking a memorable milestone in MSM’s global outreach and cultural exchange initiatives.
The visitors were welcomed with the warmth of traditional Indian hospitality—garlands symbolising respect and friendship, and the sacred tilak invoking blessings for harmony and cultural unity. The solemn atmosphere was further elevated as Council Member Sharanya Sarin led the school in prayer. The choir’s mellifluous prayer hymns added serenity and grace, setting a perfect tone for the day’s proceedings.
A key highlight of the event was the enriching Russian Language Introductory Capsule presented by the delegates. Students were introduced to the basics of the Russian script, common greetings such as Privet (Hello) and Spasibo (Thank you), and interesting linguistic
nuances that make the Russian language unique. The capsule opened a window into the beauty, rhythm, and structure of Russian phonetics, sparking tremendous curiosity among the students. The session not only fostered linguistic appreciation but also encouraged learners to
explore global languages with interest and enthusiasm.
As a gesture of the school’s heartfelt gratitude, Rev. Bro. Tomy Varghese, Principal, along with the coordinators, presented a planter and a beautifully crafted memento to the delegates—tokens symbolising MSM’s commitment to nurturing lasting bonds across borders.
The interaction culminated in a lively and engaging quiz on Russian language, heritage, and culture. Students participated with great enthusiasm, turning the session into a delightful blend of learning, curiosity, and fun. The delegates appreciated the energy and intellect of the Marian students, while the children cherished the exceptional opportunity to meet, greet, and engage with an international delegation right within their own campus.
The day truly celebrated MSM’s ethos of global awareness, cultural respect, and holistic education—making it an afternoon the students will remember for years to come.
